Photography and Videography Kuwait: Combined Shoots
Almost every brief that lands in our inbox asks for photography and videography in Kuwait as if they were one line on a quote: "we need photos and a video from the same day." It sounds like a saving, and sometimes it is. Just as often it is why a client ends up with forgettable stills and a rushed video — because nobody told them the two disciplines want opposite things from the same hour of light.
We shoot combined days most weeks — showrooms in Salmiya, offices in Sharq, F&B brands across Kuwait City. Here is what they cost in KWD, when combining is the right call, and where these shoots quietly fall apart.
How much does a combined photography and videography shoot cost in Kuwait?
Budget 450–750 KWD for a half-day with a two-person crew, and 800–1,500 KWD for a full day with a dedicated photographer and a dedicated videographer. A single operator covering both is cheaper — 300–500 KWD a day — but you are buying compromise, not efficiency. Add 150–400 KWD for a stylist, talent or a rented studio.
Against two separate days, a combined day usually saves 25–35% — from one setup, one call sheet, one travel block and one round of approvals, not from the crew doing half the work.
What moves the number:
- Crew shape. Two specialists is the biggest cost driver, and the only version that reliably delivers both at a professional standard.
- Deliverable count. Twenty retouched stills plus six vertical clips is a different edit load from eight stills and one film. Specify both numbers before asking for a price.
- Setups. Each distinct look — lighting, set or wardrobe change — costs 30 to 60 minutes. Six setups is a comfortable day; eleven is not.
- Locations. Two sites 20 minutes apart is fine. An office in Kuwait City plus a warehouse in Ahmadi burns a half-day on the Fahaheel Expressway.

Where combined shoots go wrong
Lighting wants two different things
Stills love a hard, directional key and a burst of flash. Video needs continuous light, consistent colour temperature and no flicker. Fire a flash head into a video take and you get strobing frames; shoot stills under flat continuous light and they look like production grabs. A proper combined day either lights for video and shoots stills inside that light, accepting slightly softer frames, or ring-fences separate blocks for each. Pretending one setup serves both is the most common cause of a disappointing gallery.
One operator cannot do both well at once
A videographer mid-take cannot stop to grab a still, and a photographer working a subject cannot hold a 20-second locked-off shot. When one person keeps switching, both outputs lose their best frames — and so does your talent's energy, which fades fast after hour two.
Nobody agrees what "the same day" means
Clients picture everything captured side by side. Crews plan blocks: video first while the location is clean and the light is best, stills after. Both work — but if the marketing manager expects a specific hero image that was never on the shot list, the day fails on paperwork, not craft. Write down every must-have frame; our checklist for planning a video shoot in Kuwait works for a combined day too.
Should you hire one person for photo and video in Kuwait?
Yes, if the content is social-first, the volume is modest and the output does not carry ad spend. No, if either asset is going on a homepage, into a paid campaign, or in front of a boardroom. The dividing line is money behind the asset, not the size of your company.
A single operator is the right buy for:
- Behind-the-scenes and in-the-room content for Instagram and TikTok.
- A monthly refresh of 10–15 lightweight social assets.
- Internal documentation — a site visit, an event recap, a walkthrough.
Book two specialists when you need:
- Catalogue or e-commerce stills alongside product video — both are revenue assets. See our guide to product photography in Kuwait.
- Campaign creative that will run as paid media with real budget behind it.
- Anything with booked talent at 80–250 KWD per person per day — too expensive to waste on a crew switching hats.
Planning a combined day around the Kuwait calendar
Three local realities shape the schedule more than anything in the brief.
Heat, May to September. Exteriors collapse to roughly 90 minutes at each end of the day, and that window has to serve both disciplines — so a summer combined day is really an interior day with a short exterior block. October through March gives you a full usable day, which is why studio diaries here tighten sharply from mid-October.
Permits. Your own premises need nothing. Public locations — a street in Mirqab, the Kuwait Towers waterfront, Souq Mubarakiya — need Ministry of Information clearance, and public land also needs Kuwait Municipality permission. Allow one to two weeks; The Avenues and 360 Mall add their own management approvals. A permit covers the shoot, not the discipline, so get both stills and video into the same application or you will be renegotiating on the day.
The Friday–Saturday weekend. Sunday and Monday are the quietest days to shoot in a working office or showroom; Thursday afternoons are the worst. A "Sunday deadline" agreed on a Thursday is four days away, not one.
Demand spikes twice a year: the three weeks before Ramadan, and early February around Hala Febrayer, National Day and Liberation Day on 25–26 February. Book either inside six weeks and you take whoever is left.
One day, a month of output
The real return on a combined day is the asset library, not the saving on the invoice. One well-planned day should produce 15–25 retouched stills and 6–10 short clips — a month of posting across Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and LinkedIn, plus web and print. Ask for stills in 4:5 and 1:1 and video in 9:16 and 16:9, exported in the same session; later re-exports always cost more. More on scheduling that in our notes on turning one video shoot into a month of content.
One more thing when you shortlist studios: Kuwait buyers search in both Arabic and English, often the same day — "photography and videography Kuwait" from a laptop at work, التصوير الفوتوغرافي والفيديو في الكويت from a phone that evening. The two searches surface different companies and different price expectations, so get quotes from both sets before deciding the market rate.
FAQ: photography and videography in Kuwait
Can I get photos and video from the same shoot without paying twice?
Yes — a combined day costs roughly 25–35% less than booking the two separately, because you pay once for setup, travel and approvals. You are not paying twice, but you are paying for two skill sets if you want both at a professional standard. A single operator is cheaper again and suits social content.
How long does a combined shoot take to deliver?
Expect retouched stills in 5–7 working days and edited video in 7–12, with one revision round on each. Stills almost always land first, which is useful if a launch date is tight. Rush delivery is possible at a premium — agree it before the shoot day, not after.
Do I need separate permits for photography and videography?
One application usually covers both, but it has to say so. Ministry of Information clearance and Kuwait Municipality permission for public land are issued against a stated activity, so list stills and video, your crew size and any tripods or drones upfront. Interiors you own or lease need no permit at all.
What should I give the studio before a combined day?
A shot list split into must-have and nice-to-have, your deliverable counts and aspect ratios, who is appearing on camera, and where each asset will be published. Four lines of specifics beat a mood board. Everything else — crew, lighting plan, running order — is the studio's job.
Where to start
Before you ask anyone for a price, write two short lists: the images you need and the clips you need, with the platform beside each. That page tells a studio whether your day needs one operator or two, and it will save you more than any negotiation over day rates. Want a second opinion first? Send us the lists and your date — contact the studio and we will come back with a running order and a figure, not a brochure.
