Ramadan Video Production Kuwait: Your 2027 Campaign Plan
Every year I get the same phone call in the third week of January: a marketing manager needs a Ramadan film, cast, shot, edited and approved, in eleven days. It never ends well. Ramadan video production in Kuwait is not a January job — it is a December one at the latest, and for 2027 it needs to be earlier than usual. Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, which means Hala Febrayer, National Day and Liberation Day all land inside the holy month. That collision changes what you shoot, when you shoot it, and how much of it you can safely publish.
Here is how we plan the season from our studio in Kuwait City, and what the KWD numbers actually look like.
When should you start Ramadan video production in Kuwait?
Start scripting in October and shoot in December. For a Ramadan campaign launching around 8 February 2027, the last responsible shoot date is roughly 15 January — and that assumes no casting, no permits and a single location. Anything with talent, a family cast or an exterior needs to be in the can before the end of December.
The working backwards looks like this:
- October 2026 — concept, script and media plan. Decide now whether you are making one hero film or a hero plus a vertical set.
- November — casting, location scouting, permit applications. Ministry of Information clearance for commercial filming and Kuwait Municipality permission for public locations both take weeks, not days.
- December — shoot. Weather is at its best, crews are available, and you still have a month of buffer.
- Early January — edit, grade, Arabic and English versioning, client revisions.
- Late January — media assets delivered, ad accounts loaded, creative approved by platform review before the rush.
December matters for a reason beyond convenience: once Ramadan begins, working hours shorten across Kuwait and approval chains slow down. A film that needs two revision rounds during Ramadan will not get them.
Why February 2027 is the most crowded month Kuwait has had in years
Normally these seasons are sequential. In 2027 they overlap, and that is the single most important planning fact for any Kuwait brand this year.
- Hala Febrayer runs across February — retail promotions, mall activations at The Avenues and 360 Mall, family events.
- Ramadan begins around 8 February and runs to roughly 9 March, with Eid al-Fitr in the second week of March.
- National Day and Liberation Day, 25-26 February, fall in the third week of Ramadan.
Practically, that means celebratory National Day creative — loud music, crowds, fireworks energy — has to be reworked to sit respectfully inside Ramadan. We are advising clients to build two edits from the same shoot: a warmer, quieter Ramadan-appropriate version for February, and a fuller-energy version held for the Eid and post-Eid window in March. Shoot once, cut twice. That is the same batching logic behind turning one video shoot into a month of content, applied to a season instead of a month.
The second consequence is media cost. Ramadan already carries the highest CPMs of the Kuwaiti year, and stacking National Day demand on top will push them further. Weak creative gets punished hardest when inventory is expensive.
How much does a Ramadan campaign video cost in Kuwait?
A single-day Ramadan social shoot — one cinematographer, controlled interior, eight to twelve vertical cuts — runs 300 to 600 KWD. A proper branded Ramadan film with a small cast, a dressed location and a crew of four to six sits between 1,500 and 4,000 KWD. Large narrative work with a director of photography, art department, multiple locations and licensed music goes past 6,000 KWD quickly.
What actually moves the number:
- Cast. A Ramadan film usually needs a family — three to five people, often including children, which brings shorter shooting days and guardian releases. Budget 200-700 KWD per day for talent in Kuwait depending on profile.
- Set dressing. A convincing Ramadan interior — the table, the lanterns, the food styling — is a real line item, typically 300-800 KWD.
- Music. Licensed regional tracks cost more than library music and take longer to clear. Start that in November.
- Deliverable count. One 60-second hero plus six paid variants and twelve verticals costs far less as one production than as three.
If you want the broader market context beyond seasonal work, our videography pricing guide for Kuwait businesses breaks down day rates and post-production line by line. For brands publishing year-round rather than once a season, a video production retainer usually absorbs Ramadan at a lower marginal cost than a standalone booking in January.
What Kuwait brands should actually film for Ramadan
The instinct is to make one emotional film. The mistake is making only that.
- One hero film, 45-60 seconds. Emotional, family-centred, light on hard selling. This is the brand asset.
- Vertical cutdowns for Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat. Snapchat matters more in Kuwait than most regional media plans assume — do not treat it as an afterthought.
- Iftar and suhoor offer content for F&B, retail and hospitality. Practical, price-led, published weekly through the month. Restaurants in particular should read our notes on high-converting restaurant videos in Kuwait.
- Ghabga and gathering content for the second half of the month, when social activity peaks.
- Eid transition assets shot on the same day, so the tone shift on around 9-10 March does not require a new production.
On language: Kuwait audiences search and scroll in both Arabic and English, often within the same session. A brand searching for a supplier may type "Ramadan video production Kuwait" or إنتاج فيديو رمضان في الكويت, and your own campaign should carry both. Keep the hero film voiceover-light so one master edit serves Arabic and English subtitle versions rather than paying for two grades.
Permits, timing and the practical constraints
December and January are the best shooting months in Kuwait — comfortable exteriors, long usable light, no heat limits. That is exactly why crews book out early.
For public locations — Souq Mubarakiya, the Gulf Road, the area around Kuwait Towers — you need Ministry of Information clearance plus Kuwait Municipality permission for the site. Allow two to three weeks. Mall interiors at The Avenues or 360 Mall need centre management approval separately. Interiors in Salmiya, Hawally, Mirqab or Sharq are faster and, for Ramadan work, usually more appropriate anyway.
One scheduling note: Kuwait's weekend is Friday and Saturday, so build your approval cycle around a Sunday-to-Thursday week and deliver mid-week rather than on a Thursday.
Ramadan video production in Kuwait: FAQ
When exactly does Ramadan 2027 start in Kuwait?
Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, subject to moon sighting, with Eid al-Fitr near 10 March. Because the confirmation comes only a day or two ahead, never build a campaign that depends on the exact start date. Deliver all assets by late January and schedule flexibly around a two-day window.
Can we film during Ramadan itself?
Yes, but plan for it properly. Working hours shorten, crews are fasting, and daytime shoots involving food or drink need careful handling. We limit Ramadan-period filming to short evening blocks after iftar, mainly for reactive social content and event coverage rather than scripted work.
Do we need a separate video for National Day in 2027?
Not a separate shoot, but a separate edit. With 25-26 February falling inside Ramadan, the usual celebratory tone needs softening. Shoot both tonal options in one production, publish the restrained version in February, and hold the higher-energy cut for after Eid in March.
How long does a Ramadan film take from brief to delivery?
Six to ten weeks for a full production. Roughly two weeks of concept and scripting, two to three weeks for casting, permits and scheduling, one to two shooting days, and two to three weeks of edit, grade, sound and bilingual versioning. Social-only content can be turned around in two to three weeks.
Booking the season
The brands that do well in a Kuwaiti Ramadan are not the ones with the biggest budgets — they are the ones who decided in October. With February 2027 carrying three campaign seasons at once, the December shooting window will be the tightest I have seen.
